Media in the future
I think that through my newly developed skills, I have become more well rounded in the media. When I first entered the class, I honestly didn't think I would not be able to do half the assignments that were given. I had never wrote a blog until I entered the class and if you asked me what a podcast before entering the class, I fear what my answer what have actually been. I believe that with my newly developed skills, I am able to appreciate the media more. I now realize the amount of work that goes into every production, rather it be on the web or through cable. I am also able to tell the difference between a good production and a sub par production.

Video.
The video I will be using comes from my nephew who is actually doing a step done by my fraternity. The video works in really well with my theme because my page is pretty much dedicated to the social aspects of my Fraternity. My brother and I actually showed my nephew how to do the step and he amazes people in my Fraternity all the time when they see the video.

EFF
I disagree with Electronic Frontier Foundation. I do not believe that digitalized expression makes tradition copyright irrelevant. Though digitalized expression is very convenient and may replace the tradition means copyrighting materials, it does not make the previous methods irrelevant. The current copyright method protects the publisher of a work for the life of the publisher and 70 years. digitalized expression would allow the copyrighting of materials obviously more organized but not making previous methods irrelevant.

Invictus
My podcast will be of me reciting the poem "Invictus." Invictus is a poem written by William Ernest Henley in 1875. The poem is a very self empowering poem and is a poem that I learned will going through my process of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
Out of the night that covers me
Black as the pit from pole to pole
I thank whatever Gods, may be for my unconquerable soul
In the fell cluth of circumstance
I have not winched nor cried aloud
Under the bludgeons of chance
My head is bloody but unbowed
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the horror of the shade
And yet in the meance of the years
Finds, and shall find me unafraid
It matters not how straight the gate
How charged with punishment the scroll
I am the mast of my fate
I am the captain of my soul.

In the fell cluth of circumstance

I am the captain of my soul.

The Media
"The Machine is Us/ing Us, illustrates views of us a society becoming weak and inferior because we rely so much on technology. It kinda reminded me of the movie I,Robot, in which the community relied so much on the robots that in the end, the robots turned on the humans and pretty much held them captive. It speaks of a society who has handicapped itself without knowing it by relying so heavily on technology.

Podcast
http://mysportsradio.com/?p=4111
Of course the podcast I selected is about sports. It is pretty much about my Boston Red Sox's and showing that one of the most underrated players is actually the one who is the MVP for the team right now.

Remediation
When looking at the communication of the web. There are a lot of strengths and weaknesses. Some of the strengths would be the availability and amount of sources for the user. The user has the ability to find sources rapidly and the ability to communicate amongst users. The amount of new media is also a strength. Updated information allows the user to not have to look up outdated information. One of the weaknesses of the communication of the web would be outdated material. There are occasions when material is well outdated but because the web is unmanageable, there is no way of personally removing the old material if you are not the one who published the work.

My Vision
I envisioned my website being based on mostly my fraternity. Of course my fraternity isn't my life but at the same time, it takes up most of my life lol. Most of my recent pictures and videos are from my fraternity community service projects and parties.
www.students.mcneese.edu/msu-lcranson/
1. I would like a link for my pictures.
2. I would like to have a link to my Facebook.
3. I would like to have a link to my fraternities national website.
4. I would like to have a link to the poem "Invictus" and pictures of my Invictus tattoo.

Why Mass Communications ?
I chose Mass Communications as my major before enrolling at McNeese State University. Since a child, I have composed my life with sports. Either I was throwing the game winning touchdown or talking about how great it felt to throw the game winning touchdown. Even though I was a pretty good athlete in high school, I never focused on going to the NFL, but rather, I was also a pretty good student and viewed myself as a good product for a collegiate program. After evaluating the NFL for just about every stand point, I realized that I could stay close to the game and receive NFL pay without ever touching the field. I seen sports analysts such as Scott Van Pelt and Stuart Scott, enjoying their jobs, making a lot of money, and interacting with professional athletes on a daily and I knew I had to have that experience. I began taking Mass Communications courses and I realized that I was being equipped with skills that would not only help me with my journey to fortune and fame, but also, I was learning how to network and work behind the scenes. Being realistic, I realized that I would have to climb the corporate ladder to reach my goals. That would require me to work behind the scenes before I ever got a chance to give my analysis on any team’s final score. With the knowledge that I have been equipped with through our Mass Communications department, after graduation, I know I will be truly ready to make my journey towards my ultimate goal and share my insight with the sports world.
Why do they care?
Here is a blog that I found interesting.
The blog questions why Congress is so consumed with Roger Clemens and baseball’s steroid policy. Since when did steroids become a congressional problem? Since when did Congress focus on baseball and its rules anyway? It probably would not be as bad if the media didn’t show the Clemens testimony on every damn news channel. Last time I checked, baseball was a sport and I believe there is a channel dedicated to nothing but sports, ESPN. Did Roger Clemens take steroids, more than likely, yes. Did he lie about taking steroids, more than likely, yes. But why would Congress care? I too lied about liking the food in the campus cafeteria; hopefully Congress does not subpoena me.

Double Edge Sword
Being that I am really involved with the sports world, it simply angered me beyond imagination to see Atlanta Falcon’s quarterback, Michael Vick, receive 2 years in Federal Prison for dog fighting. By no means will I, or any sane person attempt to justify his actions, but at what time do we as people go too far by attempting to make “an example” out of others. Whether or not his sentencing was justified varies from the individual, but one thing should be shared by all individuals, the ability to forgive and the ability to understand that 2 wrongs do not make a right. What Michael Vick did was immoral and unethical, but to have children in the public protesting/boycotting with shirts stating “I hate Michael Vick and kill Michael Vick” is immoral and unethical also. How could parents and members of PETA allow themselves to teach their children something as cruel as hate and revenge? How could parents justify one wrong doing by adding their wrong to the equation? It seems easy to spot the wrong doing of others, yet become invisible of our own when we look into the mirror.

The Television
I think that the television intrigues me the most out of the new media. The different types of televisions and the wide spread use of them really caught my attention. At the new of World War 2, only eight thousand homes had a television set. By the year 1996, the number went to 840 million. Now in 2008, the number has risen by about 20% and the number of multiple television sets in the home are expected. The television has evolved from the basic box and rabbit ears to high defintion and plasma. The evolution of the television is nothing short of amazing.
